Licence Plate Holder Like On 821/diavel

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by Lucazade, Dec 20, 2015.

  1. Anyone tried fitting the licence plate holder like that located on Diavel (similar to scrambler)?

Is Diavel swing-arm same as Hypermotard 821?

  2. Yep however do not think rizoma is good value lol

  5. Ha ha I only just read it. Makes no sense whatsoever!!!

  6. Thx.

So now how did you do the indicators :p Show off hehe

  7. Well it went something like this.
First I bought some of these LED indicators amber strip light streetfighter trike | eBay

Cut out fairing so led’s poked through and glued in (this I had problems with as these led’s bend but not as much as I hoped. One set broke in middle and I had to buy a new set).

I stuck a strip of metal from a tomato puree tube over the lights to help protect from the heat (works great) and then some heat resistant tape over the cabling. Rather that painting I just coloured over the gold tubing with a black permanent marker, sounds mad but works great you’d never tell when on bike.

    Wiring

The left hand indicator (as if sitting on bike) is wired green (OEM wire) to live, white/black (OEM wire) to negative. This is reversed for some reason on right where green is negative white/black is live.

I cut original wires after OEM plug and fitted bayonet connectors I believe someone in the US sells the OEM plug tails but I couldn’t find them in the UK at the time (are on eBay now).
I wired in a 25w 10 ohm resistor for each side in parallel (I tried a 25w 20 ohm and it made the light pattern a little erratic).

I mounted the resistors to a thin sheet of aluminium and installed it behind the battery where there are 2 spare threaded holes in the sub frame (in front of exhaust under the rear wing thingy). I did this because I wanted the ability to easily remove it and put bike back to standard. I used another set of connectors just for ease of fitting/removal.

I hope this makes sense (kind of does to me I think).

This applies to a 796 maybe also 1100 evo but I think the earlier hypers are easier and don’t need resistors just reconfigure dash settings

  8. Thx man more curious then anything. I have a 821 so if tail tidy is removed there is plenty of space to fit indicators and make them look tiny.

I need the splash guard as I cannot look like I went trail riding each time I get to work.

Was riding original hyper many times and do not recall splash back being so bad but then it was not my bike and short periods of time.

However I have never seen a bike that splashes water at the front so high that it covers headlight in matter of minutes :)
