Life of tires on 1198s 2009

  1. Hello,

    does anyone know how long before I should change the tires from a 1198s 2009. The bike has been barely used, has about 5000 miles. So assuming it has been stored in a garage for most of is life time, how long do the tires last before they crack or aren't good any more?

  2. If they are supercorsas, you will get approx 3k out of them. Front and rear.

  3. I have almost 12K on my SuperCorsa tires & there is still plenty of meat on there, hopefully they will last me this season!

  4. 12k? Miles or Kilometres? Or metres?

    And I never got 12k out of any tyres even when I was learning.

  5. 12K kms (7200 miles) and still going I think I have about half a season left, I just finished doing the 12K service!

  14. oh dear….we are talking about tyres here….the bits that tell a million stories about how the bike is performing, how it is being ridden, how the suspension is working…..

  15. Well I can say that it's performing quite well & I don't have quite enough courage to lean her over all the way yet...it has been over 20 years since I have ridden a bike so I am taking it easy & slow for now because I don't want to end up dead incase something goes wrong!

    I don't consider myself a wannabe racer or an idiot out on the roads!

  18. No not a poser at all, I ride my bike quite a bit unlike you a Mr. Know it all & internet troll...maybe you should ride your bike a little more instead of contradicting all my posts then maybe just maybe you might see some positive reflections in your life! :wink:

  19. Seriously, there is no way you are getting enough heat into those SuperCorsas to make them work at their optimum. You would have higher levels of grip if you put on some road touring tyres instead which are designed to offer more grip at cooler temps.

    My Vespa tyres get worked harder than your SCs.

  20. I ride my bike fella. I rode 5000 miles over the summer. And when I say ride I mean ride and not pootle about like some :wink:
