I know theres options out there, expensive options. Question is, what non obvious wheels fit our 900ss, carb of course.
The late IE 5 spoke Marchesinis weigh a bit over half the very early 3 spoke Brembos apparently. There is a thread here somewhere claiming the later carby 3 spoke Brembos (and or the early IE 3 spoke Brembos) are significantly lighter than the early 90s 3 spoke wheels. And that the 5 spokes on the late IE are significantly lighter again. I recall at least a 1kg saving on each wheel as you go through the years. Obvious suggestion but also not that expensive. 400 quid might get you a pair.
Might be a while before a pair comes up on eBay. And they don't hang around either. Was considering a pair for my carby bike but you need a keen eye to win them. I think they make a great tasteful upgrade on the carby. Modern but sort of timeless too.
Confess I don't know if these are the alloy or magnesium versions but I think the cast is identical. Anyway, close enough to to give an impression about the look.
Pass....I think they might be a straight swap. I only say that because when I was researching it for my carby through the forums I do not recall any posts about fit being an issue.
If you're up for some simple engineering, Fireblade wheels will fit. Did this on my SL, saving nearly 3.5kg. There's a thread on the Supersport forum on MS "Not quite Marchesini"
Interesting Reckon there is a fair few monster owners after the same wheels for the same reason as well I'd prefer some nice wire wheels from Roadracing for my M900
Found the thread on the Honda wheels. Seems not just a simple swap. Machining involved and different discs
