Hi Guys Rather than ride to southern Italy i am considering for this years trip flying and hiring a bike in southern Italy. This presents a logistics issue than i'm sure others have encountered and overcome before. If my wife and i fly down in civvies with a load of riding gear in tow how do we deal with said civvies while on the bike. I dont want if at all possible to hire a fully laden tourer and would not expect to have the same carrying capacity as my ST in any case. We need the logistics of a full support truck without booking a supported trip ! My ideal would be to hire a bike in the furthest south tip of Italy and return it somewhere north 10 days later. Anyone done similar and made it work?
Just a thought. Have you considered taking your own bike on the Motorail from Holland to Livorno in Italy?
Hi Martyn I have looked at the idea before but it doesn't really float my boat, perhaps i should look at it again. Normally we ride to Italy but 3 days each way is time i would rather spend exploring in the south this time.
