London Calling - Cafe racer event THIS WEEKEND

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Dutch, May 16, 2013.

  1. Hi fellow Ducatistas,

For those who may have missed it, there is a Cafe racer / Bratstyle / Scrambler "modern-retro-whatever" custom motorcycle show on this weekend, in Shoreditch in Central London.

There'll be bikes from all the best known new builders in the UK, like Spirit of the Seventies, Deus Ex Machina, Untitled Motorcycles, etc, plus exhibitors from Italy, Portugal, Thailand, and visitors from all over Europe.

Alongside the bikes we'll have art, photography, design, lots of stuff to buy from cool bike shops (Davida, Belstaff, Maple, Gasolina) plus freebies, competitions, and as much cool stuff as we can fit into our swanky indoor venue - plus there is good food - ...and it's free.

In fact, just for the record, this is a privately-funded, loss-making event, run by and for enthusiasts.

Anyway, check out the info below, and if you're anything like me (Paul Smart owner, ex-Monster, ex-Sport Classic, ex-SuperdukeR, ex-R100 cafe, ex-Z1000...) it'll be right up your street.

    Here's the lowdown.

...and yes, there is on-site bike parking (see the guidemap on the Bike Shed website), plus you're two minutes walk from Brick Lane, Spitalfields and the Old Truman Brewery.

  2. I was going tomorrow but they've dropped the day, it's only Saturday and Sunday now and I'm working :-(

  3. Sorry dude. The new venue is bigger and more expensive and we could only have it for the weekend days... It's on till 7pm each night tho?

  4. Just asked my 11 year old and he's defo up for it,sounds great.fpr what it's worth,I would never now go to the big shows in excel or Birmingham ,just soulless ,but this is just the ticket,so much more stimulating.

  5. That's what inspired us. We sat in a pub and said, "why isn't there a show like this...?" and because there wasn't one, we set one up. It's the show we wish already existed.

Great to bring the kids to. Good food, nice location, lots more to do nearby, etc...

  6. Gutted I'm going to miss it :-( I hope it's a success and we see another next year so I can book some time off! Have a great show guys!

  7. friday cancelled now :-(

  10. Well it was just fantastic. Now I have to admit I was not going to buy a bike today nor in the future like these, well I would if I had the necessary so I need a lottery ticket, but I have to say how great it was.Fantastic selection of eye watering bikes, great food and coffee, but kinda best of all was the great atmosphere there, really friendly,as I was carrying 2 helmets and bashing everyone, not one person took it the wrong way.My 11 year got it,and lasted a couple of hours.I came with some friends ,one of,them is pretty handy at making things and has had a little break from bikes, but not for long.He has now decided to build something, and was really taken with some of the monsters today. So I want to say a huge thanks to the organisers and all the people who put the effort in to bring this together. You should be proud of yourselves ,it was really fab.thanks so very much everyone, and in a cool location too.See you next time.

  17. Hey guys - Really chuffed that some of you were able to make it. The event was a huge amount of work by a lot of people and our passion for creating the kind of event we'd like to visit seems to have paid off. Maybe we should do another in September...?
Iceman's photos are superb - please do check them out.
