You WON'T be disappointed Dave. Trust me on this! What bike you got now? I've got a 998s. I had a standard 998 a few years back and sold it, much to my immediate regret. Anyway, I bought my S from a Fleabay advert about 18 months ago - I took a wad of £50's with me when I went to see the bike. It had a good history and the owner was obviously genuine. So I handed over my wad of notes as a guarantee against scraping it and took the bike for a short spin - I followed the owner on his other bike for about a 12 mile circuit around some country roads and a short dual carriageway blast. We got back to his place and I could barely get my lid off over my ear-to-ear grin .... I told him to keep the money and write me out a receipt! I rode the bike home 145 motorway miles and five miles into my journey home the heavens opened and they stayed torrential for the remaining 140 miles - I only had my leathers on! - it was August and it felt like November .... ...I was still grinning like a child when I got back home!.... P.S. there IS only one colour for a Ducati. Everybody knows that....
That's why Veronica (that's my 998s) doesn't come out to play much with me! I do most of my two wheeled miles on my Speed Triple as it's much kinder on my back!
Sorry guys I didn take it , it didn't look as clean in the flesh . It was sitting up for the last 7 years with just over 8000 on the clock the tyres looked as if it was tracked and the owner confirmed it had a few ( I'd say more than a few ) and it also had an R engine fitted but wasn't changed on the log book, the glass on the headlights were broken , it just looked well worn for the mileage so I walked away .
Sorry it wasn't 'the one'. Generally s/hand bikes seem to be flying out the door at the moment - don't know what's going on. Many SS and Monster have realised a lot more money than this time last year.
Was it the one in Wicklow on DoneDeal....? If so, it's been there for months now so not surprised it wasn't what you'd hoped. Well done for walking, too easy to get carried away in the heat of the moment. There will always be another....
