The seal has gone one my 2004 749 clutch slave. I talked to my local Ducati dealer and the part is not available to buy as a seal kit. I just wondered if it was possible to buy the kit as NOS or if the same slave was fitted to other bikes that I could still get. I would just like to keep the bike stock if I can. Thanks, Daniel.
Lots of different models use the same slave cylinder as the 749, they are not rebuildable. I’ve got a couple of them for sale, if you get stuck.
If you're replacing the whole shebang, consider replacing OEM with an Oberon unit. Cheaper and lighter action.
FE, I bought that one from SP4S and promptly destroyed it https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threa...tion-pin-necessary-or-not.71397/#post-1388201 Daniel, the new slave referred to is the same design except it has some cut outs on the flange that mates with the engine casing, they are used very widely and easily available. New one from Moto Rapido is around £10 more than an Oberon at around £100. Original part number was 19540031A which may be a bit awkward to get as NOS, try Russ Brady Ducati Mondo, current version is 19540031C
Ok, thanks for the info, Denzil, sorry to read your problems. I have seen the Oberon unit but although it might seem a little anal, I would really like this bike to remain stock so I think I'll go for the stock item even though it is more expensive. Everything else on the bike is stock also and I would just like to keep it that way for as long as I am able. It's a shame that the stock slave cylinder is not a serviceable item. I guess it all comes down to manufacture costs and that they would like to sell the complete unit.
