  2. If you want a nice job look for an exhaust specialist. Welders come with a variety skills, welding thin tube isn’t something they all do.

  8. I have a good TIG welding set and am fairly good with it :)
I won't attempt anything I'm not confident of success.

  9. Here you go....as you can see its literally...come out....you can pull it out wit your hand and then push it back in...

While im not a welder....maybe round the edge of the collar?? im guessing it could partially be done on the bike as most of it is accessible so it can be welded in exactly the right place..? then take it off....which literally takes a couple of mins...

  10. The way i repair loose collars is to drill a couple of holes in the collar, slide it back over the pipe then fill the holes with weld. Easier than trying to weld the edge of the pipe.

  11. Wouldnt that give it a weak point? And the only reason for that statement as its a big 1100 vibrating twin...inline 4 yeah id go with that....

  12. I’ve never had one fail doing it that way , once the pipe is welded through the holes then the collar can’t go anywhere without shearing off the welds. Maybe a pro has a better way of doing it but that has always worked for me.

Just went and stuck a magnet on it...so its stainless!!

  15. Ah, yes, it's a lot less portable than an exhaust pipe. I meant I could pop round and take a look. I'll txt you...
