848 Looking For An Ecu

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by Addictiontofaults, Apr 30, 2019.

  1. Hey guys ,

I have had my 848 corse for about 5 months now and loving every second of it !
When i got the bike i also got termi slips on with it and after about a month i gave in and chucked them on . With this i don't have the correct ecu for the cans and i believe is causing me to run rich .

Would anyone know where i can pick up an ECU for the 2012 848 se , i believe the the number for it is : 96459912B

I was speaking to a guy on Ebay but he wouldn't give me the product number so i got somewhat spooked and didn't bother buying it as there was no returns .

  2. You don’t need the entire ÉCU just the eprom chip which sits at the heart of it. Presumably you didn’t get the chip with the termis with the bike? It’s worth checking which chip you have installed before splashing out. It could be, as the bike came with termi cans albeit not fitted, the chip was changed in the past and not changed back.

  3. AFAIK you can just re flash your existing ECU, you do not need to change anything.

  4. I didn't know this was an option i will look into it !

Would you know anywhere i can pick up an eprom ?

With the termis i believe you are meant to get a DP Ecu like this for example : https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Ducati-848-...445490?hash=item1cc93f2ef2:g:L~sAAOSwerRbkXiF

But in my case the termis were given as an added extra nothing with a few bits and bobs , i didn't get anything bar the cans and mounting clamps.

  5. In ireland we have a severe lack of flashing services for motorcycles , and the ones we do have are apparently with mixed reviews .

  6. Send @chrisw a message - he'll be able to reflash your existing ECU for you

  7. Thanks i will give him a shout , it's a daily driver so i would have to make a work around .

  8. This is who did mine, but that won’t work as you will have to post it to him. Runs great. And A LOT cheaper than buying another ECU.

  9. Hmmm....my bad, on checking further perhaps the 848 doesn’t have a replaceable eprom like the 748/916/996/998 range. Apologies if my information was duff. However, put a call into Robbie at MotoTechnica, Dublin he’ll be able to advise. There are also a couple of places in the Dublin area who can re-flash the ÉCU but their names escape me at present.

  10. Thanks for the heads up i will give him a shout just now and see what i can do ! Appreciate the advise :)

  11. Thanks i was just looking at MotoTechnica's site so will give them a ring just now and get an idea of what i can do here . Thanks :)

  12. Let us know how you go Paul

I have a 1098 standard ECU and a 1098 performance ECU sitting in a cupboard. If you can get them reflashed I could sell you the ECU if you like

I'm not desperate to sell them, there is a Nemisis in my bike, just a thought to help you out and you could have onne of them way cheaper than that E-Bay quote

    Ping me if you need

    John

  13. Best bet imho, is to take up Old Jock's offer and get him to send it direct to Chris, who can hopefully reflash it and send it to you.
You can then swap ECUs at your leisure. :)
