Looking For Old Single Parts!

  1. I'm in the process of getting my '75 450 SCR back on the road and am out of touch with sources of parts.
So would appreciate signposting to the companies that can help with this quest!
It was a runner before being stored many years ago, and it has been stored well so shouldn't need too much, hopefully!
I was going to restore it but that plan has prevented it from being used upto now, so bugger how it looks, I just want to ride it!

  2. Hi, it's great to keep these bikes on the road. When I restored my 175TS narrow case I mainly used Nigel Lacey http://www.laceyducati.co.uk/ducati-parts/ and Classic Ducati.

Nigel sells most stuff for both Wide and Narrowcase bikes. He's also an engineer, restorer and is heavily into racing Widecase Ducatis. He has a wealth of knowledge that he's happy to share with enthusiasts, as does Barry Jones at Classic Ducati. Note that Barry sold off the online sales part of his business https://www.classicducati.com/
and now trades in NOS and originals parts at https://www.classicducati.co.uk/.

I've used both Nigel and Barry for several years and have nothing but good things to say about them. There are also a few very good Italian suppliers I can out you in touch with.

My best advice though is to get along and join the Motoscrubs forum a dedicated Ducati Singles site http://www.motoscrubs.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=3
Most of the guys are based in the States, but there's a pretty eclectic mix of Brits, Yanks and Europeans that all speak excellent English and have a vast knowledge between them of everything Ducati Single.

  3. Very useful guys, many thanks! I made a list at the time I bought the bike so it seems I have some emails to send!
As I mentioned , it was a runner and it still should be after a bit of re-comissioning. Compression is still very strong!
The previous owner did do some period mods, like 12 volt conversion, a guage conversion which looks like a Suzuki unit and looks horrible, so that will be binned! There are a few other suspicious looking 'amendments' also, so I'll need to investigate those. It was a single that was the catalyst for my Ducati'itus, so I have a great fondness for them. I was riding to college one morning in Leeds and my route took me past a tiny little dealer frontage on the A64 (I think it was the A64 anyway!) And there, in the window was a brand new, glittering Blue and Gold Mk3 350!! I was smitten, and even further smitten when I later visited the shop and they had a Mk3 350 Desmo in stock! This would have been in 1977 I think, and I would have bought it on the spot had it not been so eye wateringly expensive! Those encounters are still very vivid in my mind, so must have been very profound. Can't wait to be thumping around on the 450!
