So, following a casual drop in at Ducati Cambs it looks like I'm back to Ducati ownership. My 2014 Tuono is now out of warranty and I decided to get a new Monster 1200R in black. I know the M1200R isn't as sharp as a Tuono but I'm down with that. Got a good deal too. I'll be able to change my Streetfighter 1098 avatar soon it would seem.
And, this is something. I did the deal, paid the deposit and they're PDI'ing the bike today for me to pick up in 3 hours time... That's... Rapid.
Awesome congratulations I reckon I'd choose the R over the Tuono as well. The Tuono is awesome but I can't see the point in having a full on race bike without fairings. Better to have a focused naked like the R in my opinion.
I'll miss the Tuono, I like the sharp, full on race bike performance but want a change. And I dont want another Aprilia! The R is softer, better suited to the road. I'm in my mid-forties, family all that stuff and I'm far from a race demon and don't track so the Monster makes sense. Plus its new and shiny.
Good one nothingfaced. Shouldn't the title read...'back in the BLACK' I saw that black M12R in Cambridge the other week. I've got a red'un, and its bloody great.... Theres a few of us around these parts on M12R's - think we need a gathering of the 12R's soon
There is a certain something about a Ducati that relentlessly keeps pulling me back to owning them. I'd be up for a meet for sure guv.
Nice. I do like them in black but I couldn't bring myself to do it. My last 3 Ducati's have been black, silver, white so I just had to buy my 1200R in red.
The bike is vanilla, including the rank OEM tail and pipes so am loathe to post any! And how the Fred funk do you remove the reflectors off the side of the forks without scarring the finish on the legs?
I used light weight fishing line & WD40 - use sawing action behind the reflector, and the fall right off. Theres usually some residual glue left on the fork leg, but comes off easy with more WD
Vanilla as in plain, unaltered. It's completely stock. I got the reflectors off using a hairdryer. Heated them for a few mins and they pulled right off. Touch of wd40 to wipe down. That dumb 'dont put anything on the headlight' sticker caused me more grief. The glue went everywhere and took a lot of cleaning off. Got Evotech tail tidy, new plate, R&G exhaust hanger on order. I'll post some pics when that's done. I hear the tail tidy is a relatively simple job to fit. I've had some nightmares in the past with these.
Bloody Hell! Welcome back....didn't think id see it - thought you were going to wait til the end of time for a new SF...! Any plans for ditching the pipe...?
Aye, I got tired of waiting plus my Tuono had reached the end of its warranty. I didn't want another Aprilia so the 1200R was the choice. I missed not having a Ducati. The pipe will be going soon though I do need to slow down the spending. I'll live with it for now and sort out the tail and other bits and bobs first.
Cool - gonna sound pretty evil with a full system on it....paypal credit is your friend....they gave me an account ages ago 0% over 4 months...awesome...
I dont do credit; If I cant afford it, I dont have it. The system will be my xmas present to myself I think. It's good to be back on a v-twin after a couple of years on the v4. It does remind me of my SF.
Marchesini's are the plan.... Thatll be it finished then... My ultimate naked muscle bike! Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
