This unbelievably popular place, which I avoid at all costs has now been given one star by the authorities. The good news is you don’t need to travel far to find much better fare.
Almost as maddening as why londoners love the ace-cafe. Utter shite In a way I can understand why semi-posh people don't share certain locations or holiday places. Because they'll get overrun by moronic riff-raff like me
It hasn’t but to get a 5 star rating you need it to be all in order. To only get a 1 is IMO abysmal I won’t eat if the food outlet has less than 4. https://www.food.gov.uk/sites/defau... Spot, Consumers online version - England.pdf
I have not ever contemplated travelling India, so whether I’d like it or not is moot. I don’t like Indian food in the slightest so see no reason to go to the source.
I have to be honest and say I haven’t been there for ages and have no intention of returning. The roads nearby are Police hotspots, they like easy pickings and there are plenty of riders who make it easy for them. Loomies was dirty and had an unappealing menu last time I visited. There are numerous much better places for refreshments in the area.
Surprised it’s taken them this long, it’s been like it for a decade and more. The last burger I had there looked like it’d been scraped off the a32. Shite Jeff.
Alton station cafe and the kebab place both have five star hygiene ratings, I bet there are many others.
I went there many Moons ago, as it was a popular run/loop from where I used to live. The food was as expected, I personally have never looked at food ratings, I've eaten from enough bins not to worry...
Loomies is really close to home for me, but I only ever get a Coffee there when returning home from a ride. I think the only thing I've ever eaten there is a Snickers bar, or possibly a portion of Chips, just once. It is a bit crap, but still so popular that it's far too busy for me at the weekends. Fridays are good if the weather is nice, it obviously tends to be an older crowd who don't work, or work part time, like me. What I like about it is that I can park up, get a Coffee, go back outside, and almost guarantee somebody I've never met before will come over for a chat. I don't have friends I ride with, so it's the only in person bike related social time I have.
I completely get that. I think the operators see that it’s so popular there’s no need to offer good food and many are happy with instant weak coffee. Luckily the authorities are there to protect the public from poor hygiene.
Why the negativity towards Loomies? I'm not defending the place but have enjoyed many a meet there and made some good friends as a result. The cuisine is something else, if you don't like the place then stay away!
it took a massive dive about 9 years ago when (story goes) the leaseholder on renewal back then was told of a rate increase plus it wouldn't be for long as owner was soon to develop the land, and so left. The new leaseholder asked if the name "Loomies" could be retained and i believe they got it "for a song". Looking back i'm sure they wish they hadn't moved on. I agree with Nasher, the best bit is meeting people there and looking at bikes.
Picture of my Monster and mates MT-10 - can't say I was impressed with it particularly at the time. Good as a place to meet up though
