A pro driving a 720S would be interesting… the 570 a tad underpowered against a superbike. Enjoyed it though
I like guintoli. You’re not wrong about the 720. I’ve driven a couple. They are very, very quick cars (when they’re working).
Or even better (and cheaper), a Porsche 992 Turbo S. Beats the 720S in the standing quarter mile and can probably corner better too…. Beast of a car!!
Easiest way to find out is find a Porsche cup or similar race series and get a lap time then check BSB and compare
Maybe not so accurate as 1 is a fastest in race (Porsche) and the other was qualifying (motorcycle) and not Donny. https://www.porsche.com/uk/motorsportandevents/porschecarreracupgreatbritain/ https://www.motorcyclenews.com/spor...rms-to-pole-with-quickest-ever-knockhill-lap/
I think the cars generally do the national circuit, cutting out the Melbourne loop. Bike events capture the loop I think…
Not so sure about the cornering bit. But yeah, over a quarter mile the figures on the turbo are ridiculous. Very different cars though, the McLaren is like a pissed off Bull. The Porsche is more like a sedate appliance.
Does this series count? https://www.tsl-timing.com/file/?f=BARCMCLAREN/2021/213220bml.pdf 2’00 flat Silverstone GP
Bsb is a few seconds quicker on average over a lap than btcc. But btcc cars aren’t exactly quick by any standards in car terms. Not even for tin tops really. They have a lot of grip though. Pretty wank in a straight line. Not that that matters for racing. Speed and power doesn’t necessarily make racing. Once you get in to slicks and wings, forget it. Having sat on both sides of the fence though, it is a fairly substantially different kettle of fish riding a bike fast to driving a car fast. It’s caused many a family argument as my family are car racers. But riding a bike quick is a different ball game. Especially if we are talking properly QUICK. Not that I can ever really say I was at that level on a bike. But at the level I was even, it was graft and the price you pay for getting it wrong is also in a different post code. Cars, especially modern cars are a piece of piss to drive fairly quickly. Go to any U.K. car trackday and there will be all sorts of road cars going round, some maybe a second or so off a racer in a road car if that. you simply do not get that on bike trackdays.
Just under 1.10 for superstock sort of 1.07/8 ish I think. Not sure actual superbike. Probably a couple of seconds quicker maybe?
Bikes quicker then. I saw some GT3 RS lap times of around 1’16” I think. The RS is a quick track car alright but with today’s insanely powerful cars, at ~520hp is a tad underpowered. Mental!!
