Evening gents, Please be gentle it's been a rough week. Just thought I would gain a little more advice from you guys. You may well have the info I so desperately need. As some of you may be aware I have been replacing and fully servicing my old faithful I've the past few weeks. We started with a new sprag and then a full service. She had been worked hard over the past year completing nearly 17k. Belts are good at to go and were due to be fitted this week. I fired her up this evening to get her ready to go to the shop when once again the sprag has reared its ugly head. (Same symptoms as before) Just a spinning of the starter. Yesterday she fired up fine with full working clutch but decided to die after hitting 3k on the revs, I checked plugs and relay but no joy. Fired her up again today to see if it was just a 999 gremlin but today I have just the famous whirrrr of a starter and no clutch movement. Surely it cannot go through a sprag in less than 10miles. I understand it may be my fitting but tbh it's pretty simple once you have the correct tools. So does anyone have any ideas what may be destroying my favourite redhead from the inside. I'll crack the cases again this week but any advice as to why she wouldnt Rev past 3k then destroy a sprag would be Greatfully accepted. Tbh, I don't expect a miracle but I needed a rant as other half has no compassion and hates my pride and joy Sad times Andy
I have no advice but I feel your pain. Best of luck. Hopefully @nelly or one of the other clever peeps will be along soon. Chin up China.
Is the starting circuit/system up to scratch? Plenty of power in the battery and piggybacked/replaced cables, terminals all in good condition? If so, can't help thinking you did something wrong in your installation...
