1jac came with the bike and although it raises the back nicely, front is still just in contact with the ground. I though these were supposed to raise both wheels off. What's not right?
You can alter it by choosing a different hole on the plate to put the pin in. Perhaps the previous owner didn't use the right one. Took me a few goes
Thanks Ian. That's how I've got it, more or less. Back tyre is off the ground by about 6", front still touching. I tried tilting the slotted plate more towards vertical, but then the stud wouldn't locate properly in the swinging arm.
not used one with a m1200 but have with a few other bikes you dont want to adjust the plate angle, it needs to stay in the same plane as the bike and move up and down if you use the large hole located down and to the left of the current one (hidden by the plate in your pic), it should raise the bike a little higher and shift the centre of gravity towards the back of the bike slightly hopefully this will be enough to lift both wheels
From the 1JAC FAQ Q. Why is my front wheel on the floor? A. Set up completed, attempting to lift the bike and the front wheel stays on the ground or very low to the floor. This is caused by the nuts on the threaded bar not being squeezed tight (with the kit in the correct location) and then the main bolt is being torqued to 140nm (105-lbs approx) This is a really good tighten. After this is done (and before any effort to lift the bike is attempted) ensure the kit once again slides into its location accurately. Re-check that all the 13mm s/s nuts are tight so the friction plate cannot move. A very small amount of movement here will have a greater effect at the wheels.
