I'm excited to be getting an M1200R on Saturday as big brother to the 748SPS. I really prefer reverse/race gear pattern so I'd be interested if anyone has done it. On the older bikes, you either turn over the splined end or better, use a lever directly off the spline and take away the linkage. From photos, it looks like there's not enough room to do this on the Testastretta engine though. Any suggestions?
@yelloman welcome. I beleive you'll need to purchase a GP shift shifter specific for the Monster. Just looked at mine and i don't think you can just flip it.
Yes, it's better that way. I made my mind up to change after CBR600, because you can't change up when the bike is leant with conventional pattern - or you if you have your foot under the lever ready to change, it can hit the road and change for you!
@yellowman Another option is a higher pair of rear-sets which would provide far more leaning clearance in addition to the multiple adjustments.
Sorry mate i dont. I'm sure someone will make one but it will take some finding. Other options are rear sets as @DarR has already pointed out.
SOLVED! I'm was really pleased with the 1200R, but now I'm so happy to have found a very simple solution to reverse gear pattern aka GP shift. Use 748/9*6 cranked arm on the spline! That arm is not threaded, so a nut/bolt arrangement is needed. Because it's tight on the bike side, I've used a S/S pan head with a nut. It's not particularly elegant, but it works.
