I've always thought that the OEM brakes were adequate - powerful, certainly but initial bite a bit soft, firming up on second pull. I don't think it's a brake fluid issue - I've tried several and now it's Brembo's own label. While I suppose it could be just an ABS effect, because compared with direct lines on the 748, it just feels a bit remote. OEM pads need replacing now, so: any pads experience out there to improve this situation? Fast road use by the way, not track.
SBS have a sintered pad, the 841RST which is similar to the Brembo SR (used to be the SC) for fast road but more competitively priced (£70 vs £90). Andy
Depends on what sort of a rear brake user you are. I grew up on a British bike with drum brakes so even today with discs, I still use the rear brake a lot and use a sintered compound. Not sure if SBS do something better than standard road but for most, that’s fine. Andy
Standard is OK. I do use the rear frequently for stability and descending dodgy Welsh lanes...Thanks for your help.
For longevity, Brembo recommends LA. For fast roads, Brembo recommends SA. The SR pads can also be used on the road but are predominantly for the track and would require more heat to operate property and won't last as long. Surprised to read this as i find my brakes ,superb ,one finger for normal use two if i am hunting on ,defo i do not need a double squeeze for full feeling . I would get them serviced with new fluid etc and go from there
