interesting article in our local rag M25 speed cameras to be switched on in Surrey (From Surrey Comet)
If the variable speed limits are working well (which they're not, by the way, mainly due to operator negligence), then why turn the cameras on? Extra revenue, of course. It's another tax.
Funny, I've seen them flash They certainly do in the Berks Herts section, but only on variable limits afaik
My landspeed record stretch of Mway is just before Gatwick Junc on M23 on a sunny Sunday morning. No cameras. Ive done 70mph along here easily. I once did 72mph on the M25.
Is that 70-72 mph over the legal limit? Lol They'll end up putting GPRS in everything and monitor every movement BiG Brother is watching
Under an hour ??? How much under, as an hour would be 117 mph that's flying and would have to be done with no traffic what about the tunnel/bridge? You still got a licence
Just under an hour, just checking a digital watch strapped to the top yoke, so if you're waiting for tenths you've got a bit of a wait coming. It was a good few years ago, on an early sunday morning, on a ZXR750, and I was flat chat just about everywhere. Bike mag journo Dale Lomas did it, so I decided I could too. And I did.
There's one between junctions 10 and 11 that goes off all day long, no matter what speed you're going. Having said that I've not seen it flash for a few months.
Can't remember; a whole load of them were circling the M25 for 24 hours, and Lomas knocked out a lap in fairly heavy traffic in under an hour. I said down the pub it would be easy. Challenge set, then...
Ah no, I just read about the one chap going as fast as he could on a blackbird to demonstrate how fast it was.
No, they were knocking out mileage for a reason I can't remember. That Lomas was a bit of a nutter by all accounts.
