Quick backstory - spent most of my biking years on big bikes, R1's, Hayabusa etc. but have been without a bike for about 2 years. Decided to start smaller again to get back into it and bought a '96 cheap and cheerful M600 Monster. It felt slow, really slow, in fact I had trouble getting above 75 on the flat which seemed wholly ridiculous - put it down to having been on bigger bikes. Anywhoo - clutch was slipping and master & Slave cylinder O-rings kaput - made the changes today and clutch seems much more responsive albeit a little jumpy as it's bedding in. However - took it round the block to check it out and on the way back in first gear the bike jolted (seriously jolted) forward, nearly taking me off. Since then it has nearly double the power it had before?? After I calmed down I took it back out and the thing literally doesn't want to go slow - it's awesome - easy getting to 100 (obviously on a private road ). I'm hoping it stays like this but what on earth was wrong with it? Something stuck in the carb? I recently changed the choke cable as the knob had broken off it when I bought it - I don't think the choke had been used for years - could this be related? I'm certain it wasn't running on one cylinder if this indeed possible. Although I'm happy with the extra power, I'd feel a great deal better knowing what the problem was? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Jim
You say clutch was slipping , so is it a case of now the power is getting down to the road ? Some kind of blockage in the inlet side has cleared itself
