M695 Oil Radiator Mod

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Rui Saraiva, Mar 8, 2024.

  1. Hello all,

I have a question, maybe you can help me.
I want to put an oil radiator on my Monster 695, I know there are a few compatible ones, for example M900, M750, S2r and maybe a few more.
The question I have is, if I install one of these radiators, will the oil automatically pass through it?
    Has anyone made this mod?

    Thanx in advance.

  2. No, not automatically. You need to fit a diverter plate under the oil filter boss, then it will work. Have a look at at a part’s diagram for one of the bikes with a cooler and you will see what you need.

  5. Yes. The the diverter plate.

  6. You might want to think of using a thermostatic valve as oil that never gets up to a good running temperature can be harmful. Modern synthetic oils enjoy a nice high heat range. Not often the oil gets too hot to lubricate properly. You might be surprised how cool the oil runs when permanently flowing openly through a cooler.

  7. Hello, can you recommend one of these valves to me? I don't know.

  8. Not specifically for your bike. I’m new to Ducati you see. However, in the past I’ve fitted coolers direct and been concerned that the engine takes a lot longer to warm up, and often does not get up to correct operating temperature, unless nearly stationary in traffic on hot days. Basically there are 2 different types. One is a small remote unit plumbed into the coolers flow and return. This will fit most bikes so long as the pipe diameters match up. The other is possibly a neater and easier install but may not be available for the bike. It consists of a sandwich plate with an integral THERMOSTATICALLY CONTROLLED VALVE that mounts between the spin on filter and the housing. The oil cooler takes off from this unit. Both types may involve an increase in engine oil capacity. Hope this helps.

  9. wow, great explanation... Thank you.
