M796 - Almax Security Chain

Discussion in 'Monster' started by TomS, Jan 10, 2015.

  1. Looking to get a decent chain for my 796 and wondered if anyone has an Almax Series III or IV. I've been recommended the Series III to go through the rear wheel but wanted to check if any one has any first hand experiences with using them.

How long is a decent length for a 796, will 1.5m be enough?

  2. I wouldn't put a chain through the rear wheel on a 796, its probably the easiest part to remove from the bike.

I had looked at getting an alma myself, but didn't want to order one pay shipping and have it be too big/short.

I'd be interested in an answer too.

  3. Almax/pragmasis with an anti pinch pin through the back hub.
    Not through the wheel.

  4. Well if you were unfortunate enough to have your bike nicked the robber would probably be on this forum asking if anyone has a 55mm 12 point socket and impact wrench he can borrow. Oh the amount of times I've seen blokes in stripey shirts walking down the road pushing a bike with no back wheel in.

  5. I've got 2 series III and a series IV. 1.5 metre is more than enough if just putting it thought thr back wheel.

  6. Cheers, will look into anti-pinch pins this week. Bought a Pragmasis 16mm and running it through the rear wheel for now.

    What size/length anti-pinch pin would I need?

  7. Somewhere along the length and width of your axle I'd imagine at a guess.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  8. Call pragmasis and they will tell you the length you need.

  9. does the pinch pin fit a smaller axled bike? didnt think it did.

  10. Spoken to Pragmasis and they said they've got a Ducati specific anti-pinch pin but want me to double check the required diameter on a 796 as they have 23mm and 21mm pins.
