M796 - Upgrading Front Reservoirs And Levers

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by LittleMonster, Jan 6, 2016.

  1. This might be something simple, but beyond my knowledge of parts at the moment.

The front reservoirs for clutch and brakes are the only tatty part on my bike, paint chipping off etc. I figure I may as well upgrade them to something prettier like the Rizoma or CNC Racing parts... but having looked at the current parts, it all seems very integrated: (not my bike in the pic)

I'm also wanting to upgrade the levers to some ASV shorties.

Can anyone put me in the direction of the parts I need to make this work? It's how the lever will work with the new reservoirs that I'm unsure of.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. To fit the remote reservoirs you'll need to replace the whole master cylinder.

  3. Yep, u need whole new master cylinders, which is really expensive for the sake of a clean up but would provide benefits in terms of performance.

Can u not get ASV Levers to fit the current set up?

  4. I can, and that was the original plan till I realised how integrated everything is. I'm probably going to get bar end mirrors as well, so just wanted to minimise what's attached to the handlebars that doesn't need to be there. It's nice to not have the exact same bike as the next Monster owner :)

I'll look in to the master cylinders, I'm guessing something like the Brembo ones from a higher spec / newer model would do the trick.

  5. What about the MC from a 1100 Evo? It's probably a radial one, so a decent upgrade, just be careful of the bore size/caliper type match
