M900 Marzocchi Fork Help

  1. Hi all

I need to change the RHS fork leg on my 97 M900 fitted with Marzocchi adjustable forks.
The chrome has some damage and a new seal is now leaking. I know, I should have known it wouldn't work!
the damage appears to be from something hitting the leg, it's not pitted from rust.

I know this is the Left leg, I don't have an image handy of the Right.

I know they are not the best forks, but they are good enough for me, and trying to find a set of adjustable Showas isn't easy.

Unless I can find a leg and bottom casting somewhere I'm going to have to buy one of these:

Can somebody confirm the bottom casting on these just unscrews from the leg after removing the grub screw?
I can't see a thread on the leg in the link above, and I tried last night on a damaged spare leg I have and it wasn't moving. Even heating the casting didn't help.

    Thanks

  2. Or, does anyone have a Knackered leg with a good bottom casting that I could use on a new leg?

Need a spare in case unscrewing it goes wrong.

  3. m not familiar with these particular forks but the bottoms must be separable somehow. Perhaps you could contact the suppliers of the fork tubes and ask how they are attached.

  4. Thanks

I did send the question over to them yesterday via their website, but haven't heard anything.
If they are like most companies I will probably not hear anything.

I agree they must be a separate part, but old Ducati parts diagrams only show them available with the casting attached.
So they could be a press it or something.

  5. Ducati don't sell them as separate parts. Usually they are screwed and loctited in.

  6. I can’t see the damage but if it’s minor you can apply loctite super glue and smooth it with wet and dry paper once dry, it works on minor pits and abrasions.
