M900 Reg/rec

  1. Darn it my reg/rec has gone on my 1996 M900, can anyone suggest a good replacement? (symptoms, I’ve got a voltage indicator wired in and it’s just showing battery voltage, usually shows a higher voltage, 14.2, with the engine running, also just felt the reg/rec after riding 2 miles and it’s very hot)., thanks Mark.

  2. Is the headlight brightness effected when you blip the throttle from tick over?

  3. No, the headlight isn’t getting brighter with revs.

  4. This could be something to do with it!, 30 amp fuse at the right hand side of the battery is blown, but why has it blown I wonder?? F8C3DCE8-0C85-49FA-80BA-26DB2451A757.jpeg

  5. I’ve fitted a new reg/rec and all is now well, I used this one from M&P, would’ve been a plug and play fit if the bullet connectors had been a fraction bigger in diameter, as it was I had to apply a small amount of solder to the male bullets to make them a good tight fit in the females, my bikes a 96, the advert says it fits a 94 but I’d be surprised if Ducati had changed the bullet sizes between those years, more likely electrosport had fitted the wrong connectors.

  6. Mark9 beware solder is deformable but not springy so where you have used it to enlarge the ♂ connectors it will compress and they will become loose over time. It would be best to fit matching bullet connectors or spade connectors to both sides.
Btw from internet research it appears that crimped connectors (as used by manufacturers) are more reliable and longer lasting than soldered - pity coz i like soldering :(
