This project has taken just under 12 months, in between my work and Mark from MADASL's availability. So where did it start, £375 for a dropped but heavily used 1992 750 SS from Scotty: The initial idea was to put it back on the road with a few trick bits, no front indicators, and bits of race kit. Stripped down and parts sourced.
The forks were knackered: Frame, wheels and clip-ons powder coated: Engine ready to be cleaned and stripped down: Yorkie
Polished swingarm: I then sold the 750 engine and bought this: Bottom end of a 1994 SS engine, the barrels were from an i.e: The rest were from two different engines: Yorkie
It was at this point that the idea of the cafe racer started to gather momentum, Mark found this damaged Monster Challenge seat cover in his spares box: It sort of fitted. Engine wise lighter cams fitted: Exhaust chopped up to be single side exit: Yorkie
Belts on and cams dialed in: Custom alloy intakes in place: Both the cams and intakes are available from MADASL. Yorkie
Exhaust wrap: Tail tidy and small rear light: Custom top yoke (also available from MADASL): Almost done: Yorkie
Looks pretty bloody good. Not sure about the headlight though, perhaps it just needs raising a bit...
Mark from MADASL phoned today to tell me today it passed its MOT with two advisories: 1. Open belts 2. Open clutch Not bad with the booming exhaust. Yorkie
