Main Bearing

  1. Hi Folks, wondered if any one could advise on something i have noticed after pressing in new main bearings in my 750ss ie. Have downloaded a photo (quality not great) which hopefully shows a small gap where the bearing bush meets a overhang in the case casting, i am able to insert a 0.02mm feeler gauge in the gap. This may be normal to allow the bush flange to be pushed home on the inside of the case but i am not sure. Any thoughts on this would be most appreciated, many thanks. Philip.

  2. I would have thought that if the flange on the bearing insert was flush on the inside of the casing you should be ok.
You will be able to see any problems when you check the crank preload
