I'm really pleased with the adjustment tool I got (thanks Andy) but I'd like to try and add a rubber sleeve or handle. Have any of you done anything like this or seen something similar. Initially I was going to get a can of this: Plastidip Plastic / Rubber Paint - 400ml - Spray - Red: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools But I thought it looked a bit lightweight and would wear off quickly. Or otherwise I guess I could try something like this stuff? Friendly Plastic Shapelock Instamorph Pellets 500g, Easy To Colour, Reusable | eBay And colour it up a nice Ducati red: Polymorph Friendly Plastic Instamorph Shape Lock - Colouring Powder 50g | eBay The final option would be some sort of rubber or heat shrink sleeve, but I couldn't seem to find anything the right size.
AndyW had some super spiffy chain adjustment tools made up. Like the ones in the Multi toolkit but biggerer and betterer and easierer to use.
Oooo, that sounds good, I feel like a child when I have to take mine back to the dealer and ask them to "tighten my chain please" (Again).
Used heatshrink sleeving you can get it in a variety of colours, yellow red blue black clear, had some kicking around but can be got from RS
I found this stuff and I might have a go with it rather than the Instamorph. https://sugru.com Probably not a bad thing to have to fix those little niggles on the bike as well, although you have to wait overnight for it to cure. EDIT: I've ordered some so I'll post a few pics or video of the results.
I ordered some of the Sugru product from the link above (3 x 20gm pack size) and set to making a handle for the chain adjuster tool. The material is easy to use, just like plasticine, with no real smell, it was easy to model into shape, although tricky to get completely smooth. Once I'd got it fairly smooth I held the handle gently to create a grip based on my finger size. I left it to cure overnight and was really impressed with the result, I kept it a bit thicker on the edges and the material has a soft feel, but also feels like it will last well. Much more comfortable on the hand when applying a bit of force.
