Mallory

  1. Yo Guys
Has anyone took their Panigale round Mallory.
A friend of mine has asked me to do a track day with him there, but I have concerns about the noise limits.
I don't want to pay and go along to be sent home, due to being over the 103 DB limit.
I have Termi's fitted to mine

I have no problem at Rockingham

  2. Are you fairly close to them? You could always go and get yourself noise tested beforehand.

Which date is it you're thinking of booking? I'm there on the 12th March with No Limits on the GSXR.

  3. I have been to Mallory last year although not on a Panigale. They were pretty strict about the noise limit then which was 102DB on the day, I got through on 98DB but that was with DB killers and extra baffles fitted to them!!

People were getting failed, one was on 105db so if you have any doubt I would get your bike checked out first.

  4. Yo.
The track day aint till May 3rd, so think I might have to take it along and get it tested.
    I'm only 35 mins away.
I've had two different readings at Rockingham 102 DB and 98 ???
I fitted the DB killers both times.
I have no probs at Donington without them.

  5. Yo Guys.
Took me Pani along to Mallory and got it tested today.
    Bike has Termi's fitted
    Without DB Killers. 101
    With DB killers fitted 98
Had a good natter the sound test guy, and he said that it should be ok on a drive by.
Saw a ZX10 pulled off the track due to noise. Some were well loud !

Got some funny looks as I left. Must have thought I had been turned away !

Yeah, it was this one being ridden by junior Manx GP winner Billy Redmayne. Nice chap [emoji3]

I'm having a cracking day, Mallory is ace!

  7. I'm also amazed how low the Panigale reads on the noise test, that's good to know!

  8. Yeh that was the guy.
This noise thing really hacks you off !!!
Will book a day anyway, and if my bike fails in any way, then its the last time I ride at Mallory.
Will stick to Donny. I only live 20 mins from there. Just nice to do different tracks.

  9. I wouldn't call it low myself. My standard 899 measured 106db's at brands under 5k. There was a guy there with a standard 1199 who's measured 108.

The day was run at 102 but msv are pretty understanding with the panigale's

  10. My comment was more aimed at Mushio's bike at Mallory rather than the noise of Panigale's in general. I know how stupidly loud they are, I have one :tearsofjoy:

  11. Yo Guys.
Off there tomoz, so will see what happens.

  12. Yo Guys.
    All ok ...
Tested at 101 db with the baffles in.
No probs with the drive by !!
They tested it different to last time ???
The other week they used a tube pointing at the exit of the exhaust ,then took the reading at the other end of the tube .
Yesterday they just held the meter near the exhaust.
There don't seem to be any standard .

  13. How did you find the Panigale round Mallory? Guessing you couldn't really stretch its legs?!

  14. Managed to get it into 5th gear for a second or so down the straight. Didn't ever use 6th
Nice to come down devils elbow and stand it on one wheel.
Gerards was amazing. Didn't like Edwinas and the bus stop.
Learnt a lot, which was nice. Was braking far too early.
Don't think I will go there again as its too short a circuit.. I like to open it up.
Donington any day .. But got Silverstone booked for the Ducati day in June.
Now that will be very interesting.

  15. Hi buddy - which model do you have and what revs did they test at? I find noise testing so up and down - its hard to tell where you are. I had a pani tested at Brands the year before last at 105db which was fine (then) for the indy circuit.

  16. Hi Simon. 1199 ABS fitted with Termi's with the baffles in . Had to hold it at 5000 revs. The other week they tested it at 98 db but last week was 101. I warmed the bike up before hand. They seem quite reasonable at Mallory, and try to get everyone through. Unlike a few circuits, who have jobsworths determined to send everyone packing !! One thing I did notice, is that having the baffles in, didn't seem to effect power.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

  17. I've just heard Billy died last Sunday at Oliver's mount :(

  18. Yo. Just realised who he was now. Shit that is bad !! Very sad .....
