Had a search but can't find an answer, can the standard ecu be remapped, or do I need a piggyback ECU? Bike runs like a pig at low revs, almost unrideable at times. Also any recommendations for a trusted company in or around London that could do it would be appreciated
Yes the ECU can be remapped, I believe BSD of Peterboghorror can do it and JHP of somewhere near Brum can do it, others may be able also.
Get a full system Manny (it includes the race ecu). You can always resell the system if you move the bike on. There's one or two on eBay at the moment.
Thanks for the replies chaps, something feels amiss so will get it checked What do you mean by a full system Ade? I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger on a hm quickshifter, stop making me spend money
Ducati 1098 1198 72mm Big Bore Exhaust System | eBay  If you are looking for a race pattern HM QS, I have a spare one for sale (new and never fitted).
Stretto, thanks, was hoping fo someone nearer London ideally Ade, behave, this things already faster than I need it to be  I don't want race pattern as I switch between the duke and the CBR all the time and I could see it being an issue.
Really? cant see how a quickshifter could damage a gearbox, just cuts the ignition doesn't it? I clutchless up shift a lot anyway, can't see what the difference is?
I'm with Manny on this, I've got one on my 848 and have been clutch less up shifting for at least 7,500 miles with no detriment to the 'box. The way I see it is the QS just makes it more accurate. Plus Ducati supply them as standard on the 1198SP (IIRC) and the 848 Evo Corse. If they were part of the Performance catalogue only the warranty would be voided as soon as it was fitted so Ducati wouldn't have to worry. However, it's been fitted as standard, therefore it will have to be warranted. So surely they must not be worried by the possibility of lunched 'boxes.
Sorry, but that's the biggest pile of horseshit I've heard. Get it set up properly, and a QS does NO damage. Talk to any of the reputable outfits for reference. Ducati fit it as standard to the 1198SP. No gearbox? LOL.
Now I'd agree with that. When I took mine to him (he's based at Lougi Moto) I thought this kid is an arrogant sod, he was constantly smoking a tiny ickle roll up whilst checking the bike on his lappy, and baffling me with whot could have been complete bullshizle, I took the bike on brands indy next day and it didn't miss a beat, but I didn't realise how much he'd improved it till I had my first run up the hill and when I gave it the usual % of thottle the front wheel came off the ground by about two feet. Remapping is defo the best way to get the most out of your bike. It's taking away euro emissions regs and parameters that are there to please buracraps not us.
I know of a fair number who have had issues with the DP QS especially the SP. lots of missed gears, couple of gearbox failures, general dissatisfaction with them. After market may be different but given whenive seen I stand by what I've said; I'd avoid
So my dealer that advise me not to fit one to my 848 and a mate of mine with a 1098R thats been through 2 'boxes on the track are talking shit then obviously. Just going from what I've heard, that the boxes can be prone to failure when using a QS.
