Hi Guys. Just in the process of a front brake service on my 748S. Split, cleaned and replaced seals on callipers. Now I want to rebuild the master cylinder(think it’s a PSC16??) but I’m having a hard time finding a kit for it. Been informed that KTM will sell a kit, but need to know the model that uses same. Can anyone point me in the right direction??? Or is it a case of just buying a new one?? Thanks.
This has come up quite a few times taht I can remember. For some reason Ducati decided not to keep a rebuild kit for the front MC. So unless you can find out whatever bike has the same cylinder then you won't be able to re-seal the cylinder. Rear brake MC kits are available but not the front. Let me know if you find the kit. Cheers
Ok, will do. Yes, I heard the same. Something like, Ducati didn’t want to supply a kit for safety reasons and fear of being sued for any accidents caused by not fitting it properly…??
And yet, I can buy a mcyl rebuild kit made by Brembo to fit a Panigale 1299 direct from Ducati dealers for less than £15 and fit it myself. Very, very odd. …perhaps the logic goes that if you crash due to brake failure on a 180 bhp bike, the statistical likelihood of being in a position to bring a claim against anyone is a lot lower than it is if unloading from anything from an old 900ss to a 996 after which, apparently, you simply dust yourself down, take on a hot cup of tea, and settle down to write a keenly worded missive starting “Dear Sir, I wish to make a complaint”…
They are no longer available…. I tried loads of places. Wemoto, powerhouse and everyone said the same. They were available but were discontinued a few years back. I stripped and checked my one and it was OK.
Ended up getting a new master cylinder from Bike Torque which included the light switch and lever for about £150, which I didn’t think was too bad.
