saw one in Amsterdam today very impressed with its looks, don’t know what it was but seemed a small engine, I’m on the lookout for one now, sell the 1198 and get one I reckon unless something else jumps out at me, anyone got one these monsters? Can only imagine it was a 796 or 821 any feedback on these appreciated
You may need to be slightly more specific with your description. It could be a number of different models, or even a customised bike.
looked a standard modern monster that’s all I saw, not messed with maybe bar end mirrors that was it, must say Amsterdam seems to like Ducati always see a few
Off sale until the owner decides he wants to put it back on sale, has anybody got any feedback on these monsters up to a 821 which look good on reviews and not a fortune either, I don’t particularly want a red one Matt black or white although colour irrelevant as far as a review goes
I have a 2002 900ie. Its the original look & styling instantly recognisable from '93, but has fuel injection which makes it easier to start. The bikes standard weight is 187 -same as a Yamaha R6- which together with a low seat height make the bike ideal for me. Its an easy & fun bike to ride, reliable and sounds great like all the best Ducatis with a dry clutch and a V twin. These 900ie bikes are not expensive to buy. £2000 will get you a good one, which you can build into the bike you want or simply ride & enjoy. The headlamps are crap, easlly switched out for LED. The fuel tank range is around 110miles so not the best for long distance touring. The voltage reg & rec are best changed to avoid any charging problems which is an easy & cheap fix at £70. Parts are all available These bikes can become a money pit as modifying them becomes the norm for many owners. Theres plenty of carbon available to add. You can also increase the power with engine map/airox & exhaust, or add hi comp pistons/ Vee 2 cams & some head porting which gave me all the power I need for riding around the UK roads. For all info you might want on any other Monsters, check out the http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/index.php. Its a very friendly well informed site.
I have an 1100 monster in black that I`ll be selling soon. 2009 and just 4000 miles, not matt black though. Booked in for a belt service and mot next week . Send a PM if you are interested.
My wife has a 2018 Monster 821 in matt black, her niece has the same bike in red, they didn't want to look identical. Both of them are water cooled 110 bhp and go like stink.
Was it one of these? 09 M1100S. Great bike, simple, absolute hoot to ride. The tank panels are plastic and can be swapped for different colours. My one has satin black ones fitted.
@RickyX did you add rear sets to your's above? They don't look standard. If so, is the brake side adjustable so the rear brake lever can be bought closer to the horizontal? If so, where did you get them please? TIA
Yes, I fitted them. Got them on ebay a few years ago secondhand. They are marked j4race.com probs Chinese but they work fine. Brake is adjustable for position and angle.
The current Monster 821 is available in Matt Black. I know cause I have ordered one and expect delivery any day now. The bike you saw in A’dam didn’t happen to be in a shipping crate?
I sold a cat C one some years back that I repaired. That was call a Ducati Monster 620ie dark. I think.
