  1. anyone seen the three bike comparison in this weeks MCN, Indian Scout V HD something or other V a 1200 Monster? All three designed for leather wearing 'elderly gents with wives with bingo wings and blue tinged hair'. What about the Diarvowl or whatever it's called, that's more leather chap wearing orientated surely?
Can't wait for next week they're doing an off road comparison, BMW GS V Honda C90 V Yamaha M1.

  2. They did the 800RR Brutale against the M1200S to

  3. Who cares

  4. Journos like to compare bikes and pigeon hole them but they don't seem to be able to decide the Monsters are for any more. They're not super nakeds and they're certainly not customs. For me they're just unfaired roadsters. If they want a useful comparison they'd be better off pitting the 1200 Monster against the new BMW R1200R.
The Diavel is in a class of one though and having ridden one as far as I'm concerned it aint no Italian cruiser. The only thing close is a Vmax. Putting a Diavel up against a Hardly Sportster is just naughty.

  5. For me the Monsters are, ummm, Monsters!

  6. Simple truth..?

No-one would lend them a Diavel...

  7. No-one will lend me one either :Arghh:

  8. Back when I was a young teenager, before I was old enough to legally ride, I used to buy MCN and Motorcycle Weekly. Motorcycle Weekly was by far the better read, yet it went bust. By the time I got to twenty I point blank refused to buy another MCN, and I've never bought a copy since. Quite how they've manged to stumble from one shit article to another for so many years utterly confounds me.

  9. I think you might be a lttle confused :).

  10. Just read it, seems reasonable to me to have the M1200 in there; it is a roadster afterall and the target audience could also be considering the others right?

I kind of feel sorry for the Monster brand. One year its the Ducati super-naked glee machine (S4R, great bike) and the next its a mini-Diaval-street cruiser, the Monster 1200.

  11. My only quibble with the M1200 is that it's nowhere near as good looking as the 1100 Evo...

  12. Agree. And the 1100 Evo had that character stuffed 2-valve air cooled lump to help it along. The M1200 is a bit of an anomaly: Its Ducati's best offering as a sport-naked but its too soft and cruiser like; as a coffee shop poseur it's now disabled by the hipster marketing magna-force that is the Scrambler so it's now competing in the no-mans land of FZ8 etc. Such a shame.

  13. because people like me who like bikes and dont mind filtering out the shite are glad that there is a weekly paper about bikes. yes it could be better or different but if it was different there would be another you from a different camp complaining (if that make sense). some articles are crap but on the whole i find it pretty informative.
I dont read the sun at work like most of the guys on site.. in fact i dont read any paper as ive seen enough doom an gloom in my life and aint interested in Zoe from croydens tits so i kinda look foward to mcn, even if just for the pics
