Measuring Device Id

  1. What was this used for?
    20200510_121648.jpg It has been in one of my Dad's old toolboxes for as long as I can remember?
    I was happy to learn all about cars and bikes from him, but there is so much more I should have talked to him about.
     
  2. It looks like some sort depth gauge. Posibbily made for a specific job.

    Definitely Imperial FE, I don't think he owned a metric spanner until the late seventies.
    The three holes in the round brown part which is not metallic show signs of having had fastenings through them. 20200510_131430.jpg
     
  4. it looks like it takes interchangeable dowels, which would be a preset length and I'm guessing the round part with the three hole sin (looks like Tuffnol) was repurposed from its original use and as Derek said, made for a specific job.
