Melcodiag: Using The Reset Function With A Mapped Ecu

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by KA77, Dec 1, 2021.

  1. When turning on the ignition of the 1199 I am seeing an intermittent engine warning light fault flash up. It's possibly a low battery voltage fault (Hopefully) but would like to connect to MelcoDiag and trouble shoot the problem to find out.

I have the software downloaded, however, when clicking the 'resets' tab the following warning flashes up on screen......

    "!!!!!!!Warning!!!!!! Attention
If UPMAP is loaded, to not loose it, please unload it before doing any resets"

The service history has a receipt from MotoRapido for "ECU software update SSTK13 Pro System - Stock MAX RPM. moto rapido racing"

Will I risk loosing this software by using any of the reset functions on the MelcoDiag does anyone know? Or is it just UPMAP software that is susceptible to the reset function?

    Cheers

  2. Not an ECU type I am familiar with.

  3. I’ve serviced my own 899 for all the time I’ve had it and just checked in my own service book I’ve put together.
Confirms that I’ve reset the service light AFTER going to P3 Tuning for a remap without losing the map. Can’t say I’ve noticed the warning on MelcoDiag before either.

  4. I asked the question on the American site and was informed that there is a Mecodiag forum. Having had a look around on there, it seems the problem experienced when applying system resets wasn't exclusive to the MelcoDiag software user, dealers using the DDA system on 1199's (mostly) had issues with UpMap deleting when resetting faults also, back in the day.

It seems the problem is not an issue with flashed ECU's, only the 1199 UpMap software. It may be the warning would not flash up when you use the software as you would have told the system you have an 899?

  5. Seems to be a lot of Anyone out there with a 959 with underbelly
Melcodiag flashes the warning to remove upmaps first before doing resets if you have ANY Panigale, but that may just be playing safe because the writer doesn't seem to actually know which models are affected.
I have a 959 with the official race upmap (that comes with the Akra underbelly slip ons) loaded. I have melco and the right cables etc and I'd love to reset my annoying desmo and oil service lights but am scared to in case I wipe the upmap. Has anyone actually done this on a 959? Is it just the 1199 that was a problem as its maps actually both came preloaded? (As I understand it from forum chat the upmap for the 959 was really actually only on the upmap key and then got swopped around with the standard map).
The service manager at Bristol Riders Ducati (my local dealer) swears the upload key is a one shot permanent deal which I'm pretty sure is total cobblers from what I've read.
