I have recently been carrying out some test for JP of JPdiag and today cleared the service light on my 2015 Classic. I would expect a new version of Melcodiag that covers the Scramblers sometime soon.
I wonder if this means we can reset the service on multistrada 2014 I used to use the excellent jpdiag on my S2R ..... don't have the connectors for the multi ...must get round to buying some
As fas as I know the existing Melcodiag will reset the MTS1200 up to 2014. I'm not sure about 2015 on though.
Hi Derek ...... Last time I did some digging you couldn't reset service reminders on 2013 onwards multis ....ECU type ....I'd be very happy if this has changed recently ..... Gerr
No Derek ..... Not updated the software for some time as s2r taken off road .....I could get some leads and give it a go .....I was under the impression that 2014 multis was still a no go for service reset. Still useful for other things though.
I had a ‘63 plate Multi 1200s and could reset the service and desmo reminder, check faults and clear them, so should change the 14 model too as it was unchanged. The 15 onwards DVT was the problem as I understood it (didn’t have one so can’t comment.
Wonder if the same applies for the 1100 scramblers? wonder if it’s the same leads as I’ve got for my ‘13 Multi too (no longer got the bike but will keep the leads if they’ll fit a 1100 scrambler?)
Hi Ackers I agree the 2013 is the same as 2014 ...... so I'll dig out a windows laptop if mine still works (mac user) and get hold of some multi compatible connectors..... I'll use lonelec I guess. Yours was def the twin sparc ? Gerr
Mine is a DVT, I could connect up OK, but its of very minimal use. Service resets and enable/disable components is not possible. It will read some of the minor fault codes. TBH, I have not even bothered with it for a while now
@Derek Slightly off-topic question .... I downloaded the JPdiag package some time back ..... put in my bike details and applied for the activation code , but I never received it . Have I missed something important ? For example ..... do I need to be hooked up to the bike's diagnostic port when activating the software ?
You need to be plugged in so the software can read the VIN etc. once it’s done that, it’ll despatch that info and you should get back a licence file that you drop into the folder containing the program files. My 2011 Multi only worked when I clicked on the 2012 option, as the 2011 option didn’t read all the required information.
Just to confirm. It works on the multi 2013-14. I have reset all messages up to 60k miles, 4 Desmo and 4 oil services. Now I am starting from 0 miles again...so I will be ok for the next 60k miles
Right ..... Bought a PC off a mate .....bought the cables from Lonelec ...got licence ....all sorted and was able to reset the oil service (2014 Multistrada 2014 abs) One prob I did have was it wouldn't reset the service at first ...rebooted recycled bike ignition etc etc ....what fixed it in the end was on the diag "DTC" tab click "scan for ECUs" ....then I tried the service interval reset and it worked ... I used to use the jpdiag with different scanner and connectors on my old s2r with great success yonks ago ... Ger
