Michael Dunlop...

  1. ...respect. I gave him some stick after the nW200, but his enthusiasm (ok he's winning) and interviews have been better at IOM and the fact he was far more concerned about his brother, and even almost! Admitted he was at fault for the issue they have, at the end of the senior showed how much he's matured

Not that it means anything to him, but pat on the back from me

  2. Have to say I always quite liked him but did think he had become a bit arrogant at the NW200.

The afters today where he was concerned about William though showed a bit more human side....

  3. Saw him up close at the finish and on the podium for his win at the NW the day after his Dad died. That day was unforgettable. I have had nothing but respect for him ever since, no matter how his attitude has been. He is something else.

  4. I would love to see this bloke on a Ducati around the circuit!

  5. When I met him casually at a bike show, he came across as a pretty cool bloke. Bloody awesome rider

  6. Not watched the senior yet (Tivo'd and ready to go) but in the interviews after the other races, I got the sense that he has really grown up and matured compared with post race interviews in previous years.

  7. He seems a right good laugh, he'd be a proper hoot down the boozer........ Not. Great rider mind you.

  8. He looks like if he wasn't riding bikes he'd be a serious pain in the arse.

  9. I'll admit I thought he came across much better at the TT than in previous interviews I've seen and there's no doubt he's an awesome rider, probably the best Road racer we currently have

I just can't warm to the guy though, but hats off to him all the same, respect is definitely due to all of these boys

  10. Hmm, that doesn't sound right. When I hear him talk I get images of litter strewn caravan sites, feral kids and burnt out mattresses...

  11. Mardy... Check you, yer Northern monkey ;)

  12. Pmsl my family are all northern, so am I really, and mardy is an established north west erism used all the time when I go 'home'

  13. I wonder if Honda are a bit pissed off by this years results. I mean that had him last year and let him go because they couldn't come to terms.

  14. Tbf they are probably more pissed that the bmw had at least 20hp over every other bike.

  15. His riding was much more mature and controlled this year too ... Last year he always seemed on the verge of binning it .. Marquez-style domination coming up I reckon

  16. yet funny he went faster this year. Smooth is fast...or was that the 20hp he had over everyone else ;) Look how many times Ansty was over the edge to get similar (and better!) times

  17. Atree, I dont see Dunlop being beaten for a while now. As with all these things, its a confidence he now has kmowing he is the best around there. But seriously how much faster can they go?!

  18. Surely unless the track changes the only time can be made in the straight bits. Every corner is verge to verge max lean angle

  19. We watched the documentary Road at the cinema last night. It was about the Dunlop family and everything they have done and it was pretty mind blowing, plus emotionally very powerful. I had a big lump in my throat on a couple of occasions. The footage is mind blowing and it doesn't pull any punches showing the crashes. Afterwards the Dunlop brothers and John McGuiness did a live Q and A that was streamed out to the cinemas and was a good laugh. It was funny seeing McPint as I'd only met him the day before at the Performance Bikes trackday.
I can't help thinking Michael Dunlop is over the edge of how hard to push it whereas Joey Dunlop always looked calm and on the right side of his skill level? Whether that is the case or not, he's a mind blowing rider and watching the footage of him at the NW200 racing after losing his father was something else.

  20. I think the introduction of semi active suspension will drop the times by a few seconds, mainly as the bike should 'technically' be in contact with the ground for longer, ie not bouncing around as much), but there has to be a point in which physics dictated that you cannot go any faster. Are we there now? I don't think we're that far off to be honest
