Have been waiting for the Pirellis to get to there use buy date, so I could finally try the Michies out. Have always been happy enough with the Pirellis but have Michelins on my others so am interested too see how they go, both grip and mileage wise. Nice to have a choice now. Anybody else using them?
Michelin also recommend the Power RS for the Diavel. I'm currently using the Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2s on my bike, although I suspect new tyres will be needed before the MOT is due in April: http://moto.michelin.co.uk/GB/en/tyres/products/power-rs.html http://moto.michelin.co.uk/GB/en/tyres/DUCATI/Diavel/2016.html
I changed to the Michelin Power RS on M821 last month and I was really impressed with them right from the first ride. I've covered about 200 miles so far, all obviously winter riding, and the grip they give on cold, wet and greasy roads is excellent, especially on bends & corners, unlike the standard Pirelli Rosso 3's that came as standard. I'm looking forward to unleashing them in sunny & dry conditions.
I'm having a pair of the Michelin Power RS boots fitted in mid-April for the MOT. I'll let you know how I get on with them.
By way of an update on the RS Tyres, I managed to get out on a couple of dry, but chilly, days and test them on dry, reasonably clean roads and I'm still very impressed with them. When I looked back at my GoPro footage I was cornering on average, about 10mph faster than with the Pirelli's, on one of my usual routes, . The grip on cornering and under breaking just instills much more confidence, for me any way.
Look forward to hear how you do at the Michelin !i consider use it myself but just change my front tire to rosso III ( which got a better grip on wet surface )and will try the Rosso III rear tire when I can get it here ! If take to long I will go with the RS from Michelin on both front and rear
The Power RS tyres are on the bike now. I can't really say if they are better than the Pirellis were when they were new, but they are certainly a huge improvement over worn Pirellis. The Michelins have plenty of grip and good turn in (only ridden in the dry so far). But then I am comparing them with the worn Pirellis which had a tendency to under steer at the front and to drop in suddenly at the rear when banked over. The Diavel is known to be quite sensitive to tyre pressure and wear, so it will be interesting to see how the Michelins perform as the miles increase. I managed around 4,000 miles out of the Pirellis.
Recently changed the Pirelli tyres on Carole's Diavel due to picking up several punctures in the rear and we worked out that she must have done about 7000 miles on them. Astonishing ! Wanted to try the Michelin but my tyre fitter was told they were in the middle of making a new batch and didn't have a rear in stock. Andy
The Michelins were fitted to my bike by Nelly at Cornerspeed just 2 weeks ago. He didn't have any problems getting hold of them.
I'm still on pilot 4's the level of feedback they give on the gt1000 is very good will go to the new one when i need it.
I got rid of the Diavel at the end of June. Had been having misfire issues for some months & having spent a considerable amount on the bike I had to draw the line regarding how much more I was prepared to spend on it. Enjoyed the bike when it ran well.
