Anybody got any experience of using a Keyster Carb rebuild kit on the 38mm Mikuni carbs on a 1994 900ss? Ive just stripped cleaned and rebuild my carbs with two of these Kits K-1336DK Carb Repair Kits (one for each carb) Motorcycle repair kits Ducati 900SS Supersport 1991-1997 All looks ok except for the aluminium jet needle, the original one tapers to a point, the one in this kit has much less of a taper ( same length though ) Its going to be a couple of months before I get it all backtogether to find out how she runs, as ive got the engine out, Cheers
Not Ducati but the principle will be the same I have just fitted a much larger engine in an St 70 fitted a 28mm Carb to it and then spent hours tuning it with numerous mains , pilots and needles I have a link about tuning carbs and what effect the different parts have. You can get all your needles jets etc from a company called Allens near Nottingham ,Bingham I think to be exact
http://www.duncanracing.com/TechCenter/KeihinCarbJetting.pdf That's the link for tuning carbs. It talks about Keihin but Mikuni will be the same You will have added problems setting 2 up to run the same
Allen's Performance provides parts for road racing, drag racing, motocross, trials enduro, speedway, grasstrack, circuit car racing and hill climbs. | Allens Performance Ltd. This is the place for the needles jets etc If you read the first link you should understand the difference in needle tapers thickness and the difference they make linked with main jet size
Take a photo of the needle and post here........There's plenty on Mikiuni and Dynojet stuff on the SS forum if you search.....the OEM Mikuni needle looks like a nail and there will be a square logo and a size on it............Dynojet there is no logo or size....... .........I can only guess what your needle will be like by comparing with either of the above............and what the main jet is.....
