Does anyone know if it is possible to get the digital speedo on a Monster (2010 1100cc model) to display kilometers per hour and if so how this can be done. There is nothing in the owners manual although the local dealer thinks it is possible but the guy I spoke to did not know how to do it. I know this can be done on some Mulitstradas with some tricky button pressing when turning the ignition on but is there a similar method for Monsters? Thanks in advance.
Google found this The ECU automatically communicates to the instrument panel the motorcycle model and the units of measurement to be used on the display: to change these settings, press button (1) in position A “▲” and simultaneously turn the ignition keyswitch from OFF to ON. This function allows you to select the units of measurement displayed on the instrument panel. Each time you press button (1) in position B “▼”, the instrument panel scrolls through the following sequence of options, which flash on the display: If you press button (1) in position B “▼” for 5 seconds, the option currently displayed will be saved to memory and the word “MEM” will appear. The new parameter setting will applied at the next Key-On. Units of measurement STANDARD Speed H2O temperature Counters EU km/h °C km UK Mph °C miles USA Mph °F miles CND km/h °C km ECU ld. The instrument configures the unit of measurement parameters in accordance with information relayed from the ECU
Chris, Many thanks you got me on the right track. There as a minor difference in that when the ignition was turned of the display showed "00000 PRO" then moving Button 1 to position A swapped between this and "UNIT SET". From UNIT SET hold Button 1 in position B for 5 secs and it is then posible to scrol through a range of country options including USA, UK, EU, FRA. Once the desired country is displayed hold Buton 1 in position B till "MEM" is displayed. Turn off and on again and the jobs done! I tried both EU and FRA and could not see what the difference was. I can now ride on the continent with some hope of keeping my licence in tact! Thanks again for your help Chris
