was going to attach this in the burning to death in a cage thread but thought best to start another.. my last post in that thread was about the powers that be needing and perhaps fueling conflict (something that im sure we have all thought/know to be a possibility) not sure that this link demonstrates that..https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&r...wIGABQ&usg=AFQjCNGJXVr1lB5jxvtlal6l3FSOcf7qXg in fact im in over my head when it comes to this sort of thing but it is interesting reading and the first page of many when googling U.S economy and the military. Some stats like the over 8 mil spent every 15 mins on defense and 40% of all scientist and engineers work in the defense sector in the U.S are amazing. maybe there is a vested interest in the troubles at hand.. Im not saying that i know a solution or that there is puppet masters at work here for sure, more that perhaps part of the reason this shit will never die a death is to many know no other way (on both sides) gimme ya thoughts (and keep it simple) You all know im a bit thick.... and i have just taken my codeine so dont take the piss.... (dam... why did i say that?)
It would be interesting to see Putin's increases in 'defence' or 'military' spending for comparison. Also leaving us without a carrier force is a bit silly too. Don't think we spend enough on defence, from external enemies and the enemy within - we need to toughen up...
You may be right but there is a line between spending enough and having an economy that pretty much has to be involved in a conflict or millions will be unemployed
Our forces have been depleted by almost 50% since we fought the Falklands war. The only political party in the UK committed to increasing defence spending is Ukip. I am not in any way trying to make a pro-Ukip party political point, merely drawing attention to the damning fact that at a time when the potential threats to our national security have never been so many and varied and so difficult to predict, every single political party large and small in the UK bar one is committed to the further drastic depletion of our armed forces and the weakening our national defence. It is an utter scandal. Never have we been so atrociously led.
As it happens it is the Green Party which is the most committed to introducing the greatest and most drastic cuts to Britain's defence capability. Something to bear in mind for anyone thinking of voting for them.
you are quite right, which is why i used the U.S info (albeit outdated.. 1989 i think!!!!!) my point was more, do you think that there maybe forces on "our" side that will ensure there is always conflict? im talking governments that shake hands with media moguls that shake hands with oil barons and so on.... and how can we have peace as long as so much money and employment is generated by war. its not just the governments budget for the military its the arms manufactures and all the offshoots of that, that need conflict
Historically, Defence of the Realm has always been close to the top of the list of priorities, and rightly so. If the world is a safer place cut military spending, but if it is a more dangerous place increase military spending. However Sun Tzu said "in times of peace prepare for war, and in times of war prepare for peace" (only "he" said it in Chinese); sounds good to me.
Ah, got you I think - I only have one on ignore and it is mighty fine without him here. If I don't see him he no longer exists, apart from when there are shadows of his presence when he is Trolling others
I am also concerned that we could not now do another Falklands or Iraq with our current levels of armed forces. However, playing devils advocate, is it possible that we no longer need highly trained pilots as we can now send drones and cruise missiles and whatever else has been developed . Yes the USA have an immense arsenal, and personnel, but let's face it, the current requirement is for special forces, they are currently very busy in the Middle East, all top secret, travel light and officially don't exist if captured. However it is a worry that if any heavy armour is needed we have to call on the USA for that.
is the world more dangerous now than it was when? are the reasons it may be more dangerous financial or other? i like that saying btw and 2 of my brother speak chinese (one lives there in the outskirts, teaching) i can speak some but cant read or write it so no proof
dont worry bout putin.. i got his number.. you got bigger fish to fry...unch:unch:unch:unch:unch:unch:unch:unch:unch:unch:unch:unch:unch:
