Mirrors on fairings...

  1. Having managed to break both the mirrors on my ST4 (don't ask !), I was wondering if anyone knows what the legal and/or MoT position is with regard to mirrors on fairings. I have a couple of cheap mirrors that are designed to mount onto handle bars (just a simple thread at the bottom). Is there any reason why I can't just bolt them on to the fairing in place of the originals ? Or... do mirrors bolted to a fairing have to have some sort of spring-back mechanism (like car one do) in case I hit a pedestrian with them ? Advice please...

  2. As far as I'm aware that would fall under Construction and Use regs. Once a vehicle is on the road those aspects never really get tested again, you should be fine for MoT.

  3. Don't think they need to spring back, 916 mirrors don't anyway.

  4. Cheers guys... I figured it would be a pretty picky MoT tester that would question it - but there are some about ! :)

  5. Cheers Arq...
