Having managed to break both the mirrors on my ST4 (don't ask !), I was wondering if anyone knows what the legal and/or MoT position is with regard to mirrors on fairings. I have a couple of cheap mirrors that are designed to mount onto handle bars (just a simple thread at the bottom). Is there any reason why I can't just bolt them on to the fairing in place of the originals ? Or... do mirrors bolted to a fairing have to have some sort of spring-back mechanism (like car one do) in case I hit a pedestrian with them ? Advice please...
As far as I'm aware that would fall under Construction and Use regs. Once a vehicle is on the road those aspects never really get tested again, you should be fine for MoT.
Cheers guys... I figured it would be a pretty picky MoT tester that would question it - but there are some about !
As far as I am aware, you don't have to have mirrors fitted to a motorcycle.............See here what should be tested. MOT TEST INFORMATION 1.1 Front and Rear Position Lamps, lights AL
