  4. Yep they are pissed of because the government wants to knock 220 million off the stash of cash waiting in the cupboard for them to reach in and help themselves too.
earn your money by representing your clients to the best of your ability not by the amount you can drag the case out to increase your haul. To much of the banker bonus culture was going on in this most noble of professions .

  5. Pete is going to be pissed with you guys

  6. efa.

anyway, be interesting to hear the civil service perspective.

Cuts are affecting all levels and angles of society, none like it, don't expect this to be any different.

  8. Nhs still have pay escalators apparently so hardly just a 1% when factored in

  9. Andy, all public sector workers are overpaid and underworked with short shifts and lots of time off fact. They take more sickies than the private sector and realy should have their pensions reduced too.Lets not forget that their wages are paid out of our taxes and NI and the only way that MP's can posibly acheive their very reasonable small 11% increase is by applying this. After all, most taxpayers will always trust the right honorable over the slackers that look after them when they fall sick.If I worked for the NHS,I would happily work more hours for less money and pension rights because its "the right thing to do"................

  10. Bang on Stu..sack the lazy feckerz :upyeah:

  11. i can't argue with that…..

  12. i can argue with that……adopt that attitude next time you or yours need emergency help……..oooh does that hurt sir….oh dear…still doctor will be with you in 5 hours…...

  13. Escalated pay because you have longer service, not better at your job, is ok then? Brill, where do I sign up.

Shame they only do it in public sector

  14. who says they are not better at their job……...

and even when you are working from home do newbies in your area of work get the same as you having been there a few years…..

  15. plus you are looking at it the wrong way………….its not a case of the pay getting more and more……….the final amount up the scale is THE going rate……those starting are actually getting paid less to do the same job...

  16. Hi Paul,Its not as described by many an escalator, its like an apprentice rate until you have acheived your full pay normally after 6 years of doing your job.To become a Paramedic, you would have to pay for your own qualifications which is currently a 3 year uni Paramedic science degree at your own cost which fully inclusive will leave you with a nominal 44K debt without overtime or antisocial payments will gross you in your first year of proper service about 21k leading up to just over 27K in your 7th year.Have a look at the "Agenda for change"pay rates.
After that ,there are no escalators paid.
When you see what these guys have to deal with on a daily basis, its actually quite humbling really.
