Hi guys, Need some help. Basically have a miss fire and I think it’s isolated to the horizontal head. I then checked the HT leads and as I applied pressure to the lead on the top of the horizontal cylinder head the idle changed. So I assume it’s going up the creek as the miss fire only happens in the wet. Only thing is, looking at the parts I’ve found my leads are going to the wrong coil pack. I’ve uploaded a photo showing which way it indicates but mine are plugged the other way as in the opposite coil pack. Is this an issue?
The diagram is wrong, ignore the picture and just order the horizontal top plug lead, I went through this and ordered the lead as in the picture, described and vertical, it will fit, just, but is a little too short and the plug which goes into the coil is angled instead of straight.
Not sure what’s going on but having to go about the house to respond to threads. Apologise, so you say just order the one I have circled and it’ll be correct? Any reason why yours played up? Externally my lead looks ok but summing must be wrong.
Mine also looked fine from the outside but in damp conditions it would arc to the head, found out by touching the cap whilst running, bit of a shock! It's a common fault, I think it's because that plug cap is very difficult to remove from the head to access the spark plug, excessive force damages the seal between the cap and lead. I smeared the new cap with waterproof grease so that it comes out easier next time. What year is your bike? It's very confusing isn't it! In your picture number 10 is the vertical lead, going to the horizontal head, in the list it says it's the horizontal lead!!
Sorry mate. It’s a 2014 S. yea I took it out and there appeared to be some discolouration at the bottom of the coil, well the lead. I have cleaned it and chucked some high heat grease round it to stay the moisture of for a bit but I will replace it.
Yea I’m not sure what to go with. 10 is correct in terms of connection to the plug but 12 is right in terms of connection to the coil.
