I finally got around to getting new tyres fitted at Ducati Glasgow today but the mechanic noticed that my rear brake fluid reservoir cap was missing. :Wideyed: He said this has been seen a few times now and they usually have a few in stock but had run out. There's an inner lid and that was still in place, it's a waterproof barrier I think, so the fluid was all still in there. They jury-rigged something with a bit of rubber glove and lots of black tape. I'm meant to be heading up North tomorrow (that's real North and not Yorkshire) for a couple of days and the new cap won't arrive until Wednesday. I'll have a good look at it tonight and, assuming it looks like it'll hold, I'll head off. The joys of Ducati ownership. Thanks to the guys at Ducati Glasgow for spotting it and getting me home.
I headed off and it was fine but, when I got back, I noticed that the coolant bottle cover (I think that's what it is) between the belt covers had come loose. It hangs on 2 lugs at the top with a single fixing screw at the bottom. The fixing screw fits in a rubber bung thingy that, when the screw is tightened, spreads out such that it wedges itself in a hole. It looks like the vibrations caused it to work loose. Luckily, even when it's loose, it's almost impossible to get it off without a fight otherwise it would have probably have fallen off and been lost. So, that's a couple of items that need checking as a matter of routine. So, bits loosening off. And people accuse Ducati of moving away from their roots!
