Missing wheel Weight thingy

  1. So, whilst cleaning the bike I notice some sticky stuff on the front wheel rim, seems very hard to get off, then I realise the wheel balancing weight is missing, think it may have been missing a while, can't say the front end feels any different, will take the bike into the dealers soon, anyone else had this happen ?

  2. Have you had a new tyre, and that sticky patch is off the weight removed?

  3. Take the wheel off and go to a bike tyre fitter, he will balance it for you.

  4. Ah ha, Yes, had new tyres put on 5 months ago, I just assumed all wheels need to be balanced , will get it checked.

    cheers

  5. Duct tape over the weights you have got - not pretty, but it will keep them in place and stop any following riders getting shot with any that do break free. :upyeah:

  6. Just fitted new tires to my bike and had them balanced at the local garage, luckily they didn't need any balance weights, pleased as I can't imagine the sight of my 5 spokes with duct tape all over them!

  7. Have not made it to the dealers yet, but judging from what Birdie said maybe it didn't need a weight when they put the new tyre on.

  8. Very likely.

Most reputable tyre fitters will balance your wheel when you have a new tyre fitted. Not only do they add weights to balance a wheel but they remove existing ones if that's what's required. In fact, that's a better option as your wheel is better without extra blobs of metal.

They don't usually clean the glue off though, that's for you to do!
