Not so far, how did you get it? Did you jetwash your bike? Im sure it was common with all 848/1098/1198 and the fix was to drill a wee hole under the display somewhere.
Yeah mine did it last year. Haven't got the bike out this year yet but I keep it in the house and I think it's just the change in temperature from being it the warmth to colder air. I don't think it's anything to do with damp. My 1098 used to do it.
Why do so many modern bikes do this , it would be unacceptable in a car of any make . I know a cars dash is inside but , you still get extremes of temperature , so it must be a water ingress problem ? in this day and age come on manufacturers . :frown:
Mine was fine last year then this year the whole screen area misted and wouldn't go , called the dealer and there is a replacement dash with anti mist coating so I'm having it sorted free
no bunglebubs bikes never been washed since last year ,it was when started up yesterday to go for test ride at mct, the whole centre was misted ,,, wil keep an eye on it ,if it doesn't go away will call dealer
Mine started doing it this week as I ride in. damn cold temps probably the cause but then it goes after a while
Mine same, at one point on Saturday it was missed so bad, I could'nt see dash for an hour, seems to be clearing now but still misted up around edges. I couldn't be arsed to take to dealer, it due service next month, if it has not cleared they can look at it then...
Not sure abt pani but I was told the clocks are open to atmosphere!because there is a air temp sensor in them on my 1198
I was out 2 weeks ago, temperature was around 8 degrees and dry, there was some misting around the edges of the screen, not lots but it was noticeable. Will keep a eye on it.
My 1199 had this really bad over the first winter of ownership, but disappeared over summer. Not been as bad this winter so will have to see what this summer brings. Told my dealer about this and they asked for photos which I took. They now say the factory has announced a 'fix' by enlarging the air vent in the back, so may get this done depending how it is this summer. Dealer has already offered to fit a new dash, but this will start a new mileage reading.
Been out on my Tricolore today for the first time this year and suffered quite bad misting. But the ride more than made up for it. What a super day ...and such a change from a winter on my Husaberg 250. I just put it down to Ducati character... ...the misting is no-where near as bad as an old BMW R100GS I had back in the late 1990's which caused me to buy my first Garmin GPS2 (!) just so I could tell how fast I was going
My 848 EC SE does it. But there again so did my R1, GSXR1000 and Fireblade. It's not just a Ducati thing.
Was out today, my dash still misted but now has about 6 cracks inside the screen. My horn also stopped working today.... New dash required...
The dash on my bike has kinda misted up since I got it september last year what I have found is when I try and toggle through the trip or the info setting it appears sometimes not to work or one works and the other doesn't anyone else suffer this irritation?
Yep, and now my horn has stopped working, I am thinking a new left side controller and new dash required. Phoning ducati garage today, will let you know I get on...
I looked into this a lot when my 848 started doing it including speaking to Ducati. On the 848/1098/1198 there have been 3 revisions to the clocks. The Mk2 had better venting and the mk3 has different backlighting to reduce heat and a deeper casing. The problem stems from there being very little air space inside the clocks, so the heat inside builds quite quickly and causes misting when the outside temp is much lower. The updated vents of the Mk2 were to try and shift more hot air out but didn't work. The Mk3 has lower spec Led's that generate less heat and beacuse the internal volume of the casing is greater the air does not heat as quickly. Holes drilled etc did not the issue, tried that but i use anti fog in mine which cures it but has to be re done yearly. With no anto fog mine mists at anyhting below about 14 degrees ambient temp. I can go up a big hill and it mists and go down again and it clears as the temp alters. I would imagine the 1199 suffers the same issue. Lot's going on in a very small casing area means heat builds quickly and when outside temp is low enough it condensates. Short of taking your clocks apart to use anti mist i think you either have to go for warranty and hope you get a better set or live with it.
