Not cheap is it. Until about 4 or 5 years ago they could be had for £200. But I appreciate they’re getting harder to find in decent condition. I think I’d get an aftermarket Febur one for half the price before shelling out that much.
So this is what a 2001 748R rear sub frame should look like. And this is a 2002MY reinforced rear sub frame. As you can see from the last two pictures, the genuine bracing added an aluminium bar on top of the side rails not the abortion in your link. If I had to make a living with welding like that, I'd have starved to death. Not sure if the other bikes the listing mentioned had the 1.6M ECU because if they didn't, the sub frame won't fit without relocating the ECU. IMO, it is most definitely not worth £450. Andy
Andy’s right. And looking at the photos, the back half of the subframe had already snapped before the amateur attempt to strengthen it
Last december it popped up ! It Came off a bayless they were breaking for parts , I also bought a minty set of 998s forks for 250 € plus postage mine had the horrible pitting in the fork leg ! About 2 years ago that was !
I bought one on eBay a couple of weeks ago in perfect condition. It has the bracing bar (looks standard to me, perhaps done on the later models?). This is for my 998S. I paid £450 on eBay. New they're around £1k, so I thought this price was just about acceptable.
Yes, he was asking a little more, but we agreed a price and bingo! There is another guy from Leicester that sells quite a lot of older Ducati parts incl wheels that had one at around £700 I think. But he's generally at the top end of the price spectrum. Good luck with your search!
