Monster 1100 Evo Bigger Tank ?

  1. Hi all,

I bought the Monster about 18m ago, and am v happy: great power, straight-as-a-die frame, and surprisingly comfy:). Brilliant in the twisties. I can ride it all day, and due to the position (leaning forwards) don't find wind pressure even on mways a problem. What I don't like is the range, around 180km / 115 miles.

Has anyone had an aluminium tank specially made for their bike (or another Ducati) ? What was your experience ? Who knows how to do a good job of making one (who would you recommend) ? I want to retain the "look" of the original (I think ...) and am sure that by a couple more cm in external dimensions, plus the saving of the plastic covers' thickness, I could get 18+ litres instead of the existing 13.5 litres, which apparently stems from a brief for "town" use (on a 1100 ? !).

    Thanks in advance,
    Pete
