Monster 1200 / 1200s ( 2014 + )

  1. Well.....

Been away from team red for a few months. Last red bike was an 848 evo, 1199s panigale has me ruined, nout to replace it I think. Tried a 2013 blade last year, sold it after 400 miles...

However , recently had a spin on a stock 2014 monster 1200. Wasn't anything like I expected. Maybe my expectations were low for its style of bike maybe....

It's Fast, comfy , fun & nice torque on tap. Serious enough bike when you wind it up, without any dramas...Fueling etc spot on. BUT THE ONE THING I WAS WARNED ABOUT , caught me out twice.....that ****ing steering lock or lack of

I'm seasoned but not sure how it caught me out, but I didn't drop it thankfully.

    So have a chance at a 2015 1200s model.

Just looking for opinions from long term owners . Anything to look out for ? Will I.tire of it, how is it for big miles etc ..

( was gonna jump on an 821 hyperstrada but the various loom issues with that model turned me off the only duck I ever wanted ).

Do yeah Monster 1200s , answers on a postcard !

    Brap brap

  3. I've got a monster 1200s for sale, check it out in the "for sale" section.

Ps Great bike can do almost everything.

  4. Love my 1200S to bits. Cant really fault it aside from petrol tank range is not great especially if your gunning it. Previous model there are lots of comments about rear pillion foot pegs being too close to back of riders foot and so some people found that annoying but my 2017 one does not have this issue. There are obviously aftermarket mods to cure this if you were one of those riders whom noticed this. Also previous model, some riders said the dash was hard to read in direct sunlight but again they rectified this on the latest version.

  5. Had mine 2 months now and can't keep off it. Love it and get out on it more than any of my last 3 bikes (848 EVO, hypermotard & fireblade).

Effortless engine with plenty of poke for fun and decent handling, brakes etc. Only issue I have experienced is the steering lock as you say. Ridiculous for a naked bike but other than that, it' brilliant!

  6. Pillion rest position is better for pillions on the earlier bike and only a problem for riders who dont change gear much ( have the balls of their feet on the pegs ).

  7. Any tips for an after market chain cog wrench? My dealer informs me they are back ordered.
Just bought new last month: 2017 monster 1200s, @1000 miles refuse to pay them to get the chain slack out.

  8. I’ve just dismantled a 2016 1200 base model for parts.
I was impressed by the design and the way it’s put together.
An all round nice bike I would say.
