I'm considering doing a track day training school (california superbike or something.. will start a separate thread to get advice on that). I see that they do noise tests at track days. I ride my monster r, which has termi's fitted, without the baffles and it's rather loud. I was wondering if anyone knows if it'd fail any of the track noise tests if i put the baffles back in? I'm considering Snetterton, Brands and Bedford Autodrome. Cheers, Dub
I did a brands hatch trackday on the GP circuit last year....baffles in on my Monster 1200R. Was very close to the limit, but passed ok. Baffles out would have put me over the ‘norm’ noise level limit. Would have been ok on a ‘no noise limit’ trackday, but there’s not many of them about. Also did a California Superbike school day at Silverstone. Again baffles in, and ok. General rule of thumb for me, is baffles in on any trackday where noise an issue. Not worth the risk of being refused on track just because I’ve left them out - unless it on something like the Ducati only trackday where noise not a particular issue (within reason), and / or no noise testing conducted.
I believe that different tracks have different noise limits and testing methodologies. My stock Panigale passed the sound test at Calabogie. Now to the point: my Monster 1200R with an SC-Project Carbon (with no baffle) is no louder than my Panigale when I performed a sound testing experiment.
